More Cheer Stuff :)

Cheer is in full swing and it's going by WAY faster this year than last year.  We are already almost halfway done with our season; I can't believe it! September is FLYING! Holy cow!

Last weekend we had an away game and it was triple digit weather, so we decided to make a little quick getaway out of it.  We took the kids to a hotel overnight so that we could cool down by swimming (most hotels here have outdoor pools because of our heat) since our neighborhood pool is already closed.  They had a blast and it was fun to get out of town for a night.
He makes me laugh EVERY SINGLE DAY!
When I say it was a scorcher, I mean the weather was as hot as the surface of the sun, I swear! We  were outside the majority of the day and we were just dripping with sweat.  But- everyone powered through it!  The girls cheered the boys through another victory (yay!) and Sully had a soccer lesson later that afternoon.  He had he coaches cracking up at his energy (and intensity).  That kid never stops.... He wanted to run, run, run the whole time but since it was a LESSON and not a game, there was too much talking/instructing and downtime for his liking.  We decided to pull him out for now and sign up for actual GAMES in the Spring.  Lessons are too boring for a kid who can NOT hold still for more than 1.8 seconds.  Spring Soccer will be his outlet to run his heart out as much as he wants!
On Friday of last week we had our 3rd "Football Friday!"  The cheerleaders get to wear their uniforms to school and the football players wear their jerseys.  Lucy's got a couple of cute boys in her class who play football so she's extra excited for Football Fridays this year!  I believe the crushes have officially started!
Then on Saturday we had another home game and the boys won AGAIN!  They are 3-0 this season so they will definitely be going to play-offs this year!  Anyway, Lucy earned the Spirit Stick (only 2 girls earn it each week and it's awarded to the peppiest, happiest, most energetic cheerleaders of the week.  It's a pretty neat achievement to get it and last year she didn't get her spirit stick until one of the very last games.  So she's been working extra hard this year to earn it quicker and it paid off!).  The squad also got to throw mini- footballs into the stands like the high-school cheerleaders do at their games.  It was all a very big deal!  I'm proud of my cute cheerleader!
This upcoming weekend we've got some BIG EVENTS! (Concerts, school events, games and dances) so I'll be writing again soon!  We are busy as ever and so hot...our days have not cooled down yet and we are getting pretty tired of it :(  This might be our hottest September yet!  It's our 4th one here and even though our first year was really hot too, we at least had some days in the 80's that year (facebook memories have reminded me of it!).  Our last 2 Septembers living here we have even had a couple days in the 70's! But this year its been high 90's/low 100's every. single. day.  And with humidity we have between 102-110 heat index each day.  It's been 3 1/2 months of this and I'm about to lose my mind!  SAVE ME!!!!!
The only thing getting me through these torturously hot days are these cute faces:)

P.S....
Last but not least, this little first grader pulled out ANOTHER tooth in secret on Friday the 13th! Her cousin Evvy pulled a tooth out on that same day, so that motivated Piper to go hide in her room and yank her own tooth out!  She will NOT let me pull her teeth! She has done it in secret every single time! But she sure is cute, isn't she?!

Cheer and Labor Day!

CHEER SEASON IS UPON US!  And, although I'm biased, I definitely have THE cutest cheerleader on the planet.  And this season, now that they're in 3rd grade, "stunting" is a thing (I'm pretty sure I've already mentioned this...).  Lucy's a flier (she's so stinkin' tiny) so she gets raised up in the air by the "bases" (the girls who hold her). She's not officially flying YET but she does stand ABOVE their heads at this point.  I'm so impressed by how much these girls are learning this year! They all look so cute out there on the sidelines cheering for the boys.  They don't know the rules of football but you wouldn't know it, haha! They do the appropriate cheers for certain calls made and they're quiet and in formation between the cheers.  It's my favorite thing ever. I wish Piper would have done cheer as well (can you imagine that cute blonde out there?!?) but she just wants to dance, which I also love! Anyway, the weather was perfect! (cloudy and low 80's), it was a home game, and the 3rd grade boys played lights out! We won 21-0! Yay!
Here is the whole 3rd grade Squad!  We are down 16 girls from last year, but we still have a ton!  When the announcer calls out each name during the half-time show, he always likes to make a joke about how many of them there are, haha.
The little sisters :) Sadie's brother is on the 3rd grade team and Piper's sister (Lucy) cheers for him.  They are also our neighbors so we see a lot of them. Sadie is the cutest little 3 year old ever!
The girls doing their half-time performance :)
Piper and Daniel. They are in the same class at school and this is another one of Sadie's older brothers.  Daniel plays 1st grade football so if Piper had done cheer this year she would have been "his" cheerleader. She's considering it for next year, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
We had a busy Labor Day weekend!  It was the start of Football season so I dressed up my whole family in our Boise State gear and then we headed out to the Aquarium.  I got a lot of stares (and probably glares) because Oklahoma fans don't like BSU ;-) We watched my team beat Florida State in the morning and then the girls had their Annual Lemonade Stand that they do each Labor Day.  They made $29.40 and off to Walmart they went to pick out their goodies.  They each just HAD to buy a JoJo bow, and then Lucy chose a lego toy and Piper picked a stuffed animal, and Sully was given $3 from them and bought a tiny toy motorcycle.  I felt so bad for the people behind me in line because they had $19 worth of quarters and we had to count it all out to pay the cashier. Hahahaaa!
Later that night we went for an evening swim and then watched LSU beat Georgia.  The next day we dug for worms in our backyard and took the kids fishing.  Sully fished for the first time!  He didn't catch anything and he had ZERO patience so it wasn't the best experience, but at least he's learning!  Piper has the best cast ever.  Everyone who sees her cast always remarks on how amazing it is.  She LOVES to fish!  We went back to the pool both Sunday and Monday because it officially closes on Labor Day and we wanted to get as much swim time in as possible.  Now that it's closed I feel like Summer is OFFICIALLY over.  No more neighborhood pool days for us until Memorial Day.  Sigh.  I hate it when the pool closes.... especially because it's supposed to be in the 90's pretty much the rest of the month!
Anyway, that's all for now! This weekend Lucy has an "away" game to cheer at so we will be trekking out to a hotel for a night.  Should be another busy, hot, fun weekend of Cheer! OH! P.S. I had to go in for a teacher training day (I'll be subbing at the preschool again once a week this year) so Sullivan kinda had his 1st day of school too!  It wasn't official 'cause it was only a 3 hour day of daycare for the teacher's kids, but he wanted a picture too :)
*Just a random picture because I love their faces :)*
