Nests. There is a reason why I decided to name my blog “the Gilley nest.” Besides the fact that a hummingbird is my favorite animal, (but really all birds fascinate me; much to my Mom’s dismay, I had a habit of collecting nests and keeping them in my room when I was young- sorry Mom!) as a child, one of my all time favorite books was “The Best Nest.” It is about a Mama and Papa bird building, well, the best nest they can as their home. As a mommy-to-be, there is nothing that I want to do more than provide a loving and safe “nest” for my little family. So while my parents are currently experiencing (for the first time in 30 years) “empty nest syndrome,” I am just now building my nest for my future kiddos and making sure that ours is a nest full of love.
…speaking of nests….lets just say that “nesting” while pregnant is a very real thing. All you mothers out there know what I’m talking about. I am a mad woman on all fours scrubbing baseboards and folding and re-folding all the clothes in the house, stocking and re-stocking all the shelves in the closets and cabinets, bleaching the walls, etc. It’s amazing the productive activities you come up with doing when you’ve got a bun in the oven :)
I don't remember that book!! Guess I'll have to look for it on Amazon. Oh, the nesting days. I'll never forget those. Dan would say I was crazy too. Clearing out and throwing away so much stuff I thought was cluttering our house! ha! You're getting so close Britt!
ReplyDeleteOk... Now I know we are related... {Besides both sharing the last name Gilley} The Best Nest was MY favorite book... In fact so much so I removed it from my parents library and it now lives at my house for me to read to my children... P.S. I also have a fondness for all things Nest related... Including scrubbing and stocking... hahaha Happy NESTING...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your clean house while you can. I did the same before baby, and now 6 weeks later my house looks turned upside down.
