Well, the Holiday Season is in FULL swing around here! While December is too busy to ever relax, it still truly IS the most Wonderful time of the year! There's no other Season or Holiday that has thousands of songs sung about it, no other Holiday that spreads this much cheer over the course of a month, that has the world lighting up their houses, that smells as delicious, has movies made about it, and has children around the world as anxious and excited as Christmas. It is SUCH a special time and we soak up every minute of it in our house!
Let's start with the first Christmas event that happened last weekend- Piper's Christmas Dance Recital! She did a tap dance to Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and it was adorable. At the Christmas recitals they don't dress up fancy- that is reserved for their annual May recital- but it's still so festive and fun to watch! She smiled the WHOLE time! When I told her I was so proud of her for smiling so big throughout the entire dance she said "do you want to know WHY I smiled the whole time? Because I was SO excited to be dancing up there!" I love her passion for dance. She NEVER gets sick of it! Which is good because it's year-round!
This is Daniel. He lives a couple houses down from us and has loved Piper for 2 years now. He practically worships her and she has no problem with that! I love them together. Someday, I would LOVE it if they got married so his Mom and I are already planning their wedding, haha! He cheers for her any chance he can get, and vice versa! |
Santa was at the recital (With Mrs. Claus of course) so that was a real treat for the girls. Sully LOVES Santa in theory...We talk about him all the time at home and Sully has said to me a million times "I can't wait for Santa to come!" This is the first year he can really comprehend who Santa is and he talks about him daily. So when I asked him if he was excited to see Santa and tell him what he wants for Christmas, of course he told me yes- he was. But when it really came down to it he wanted NOTHING to do with him! What the heck?! Santa asked him to sit on his lap and Sully flat out said to him "NO WAY!" I don't get why he was nervous to sit with him! To be honest, it was pretty funny how fast he kept running away from him, but I wanted a good picture! I was able to snap a few that LOOK as though he's talking to Santa (we were able to bribe him with a sucker and he agreed to get up on Mrs. Claus' lap for a second) but the reality of the picture is that he was NOT happy about being up there. When I sent the girls in to provide moral support I was able to capture a few more, but the whole ordeal was actually only a minute long because when I say he wanted NOTHING to do with Santa and Mrs. Claus, I mean it! That one minute was torture for him, haha!
Anyway, Lucy asked for a Pink Sparkly Hoverboard, Piper asked for an ice cream machine, and Sully asked for a giant Spiderman!
Piper is laughing here because at this point Santa asked her about her tap shoes, and then proceeded to tell her that he has put tap shoes on his reindeer and she started cracking up at the thought of it :) |
Next on our agenda was making Gingerbread houses! This year we decided that instead of making one big Gingerbread house, we would get mini-ones that each kid could do whatever they wanted to with it. They LOVED doing it that way. They got to personalize it any way they wanted and there was NO fighting! Yay!
Now, this isn't really Christmas related but still blog-worthy for the memories :)
Since Piper is my most responsible child, I think she sometimes gets left out because I’m not constantly hovering over her making sure she’s doing what she’s supposed to be doing (like I have to do with my other 2 kids). The others require SO MUCH of my time and attention that I don’t have much of me left to give to the middle child- my Pi Baby! So Saturday I took advantage of the Birthday Bear deal at BAB for this December baby and we made a day of it. I usually HATE the mall with a passion, but I actually had so much fun with her- just us. We went to lots of stores, ate yummy treats and spent the whole day together; I think we BOTH needed that. And the Christmas music and hustle and bustle of the season kinda felt perfect. It was a sweet day with my sweetie Pi.
‘Tis the Season!❤️🎄💚
And then 3 days later she ran up to me while I was putting laundry away and said "MOMMY! Look what I just did!" And held out her hand with her front tooth in it! I didn't even know it was loose!
Now for the end of the blog where I post some random pictures as I wrap things up!
This picture below is me and my baby boy playing Christmas carols together :)
And this little man is going to FINALLY get tubes in and adenoids out January 7th! We knew he had to have it done but I was very surprised to hear that he has substantial hearing impairment in his left ear, and slight impairment in his right ear. The surgery will fix this, but it's sad for now! Getting surgery will help his speech, his balance, his hearing, his chronic ear infections, etc. I'm so happy for him!
Well, he might’ve failed all the tests, but at least he was happy and followed all the rules during them!👂🏼🎧 |
So now I say goodnight.... until next time! :)
