Snow for days and Shawn turns 30!

The snow I've been waiting for has finally hit Coeur d'Alene!  We've had a few inches here and there, but nothing like I remember having as a kid growing up here.  Until now.  You know those HUGE, gigantic flakes that fall so quickly and thickly that you can't see more than a foot in front of you?  We had that.  It was the type of week where you shovel the driveway, and by the time you're finished, it's already covered back up.  You clean off your car, and an hour later it's completely white again.  So cool!  The only thing not cool about it, was when I was driving to work, I hit my breaks and all of the snow from the hood of my car fell onto my windshield.  It was so thick that my wipers wouldn't budge and so I had to roll my side window down, stick my head out so that I could see, and pull off to the side of the road to clean it all off.  Ugh.  I don't mind driving in snow so much, but I don't like getting out of my car during my commute....

Anyway, it led to a few cute snowmen, snow angels, snowballs and a trip to Cherry Hill where Shawn went sledding for the first time!  The girls did too.  Down the hill with squeals of delight the whole way (the girls, not Shawn haha!).  I LOVE snow.  Can't wait til we have some money to get us all up to the mountains to ski!

Shawn's 'Dirty Thirty' was yesterday and we had a pretty good day.  He was spoiled by all the people who love him.  After lots of saving up and sneaking around on my part, I was able to get a crazy/fantastic, one-of-a-kind deal on Black Friday on a pretty nice duck hunting gun.  I called up our buddy Joe to get some tips (I know NOTHING about guns and Joe knows everything) and he gave me a list of specifications to look for so that I wouldn't get sold a dumb gun by a salesmen who KNEW I knew nothing...  I also had to get my Idaho Driver's License (even though my Colorado one didn't expire until 2018) because only an Idaho citizen can buy a gun in Idaho.  I went through lots of hoops for this, but because it was his 30th, I needed to get him something memorable.  He's wanted a gun for so long and so I secretly put one on lay-away back in November!  Luckily, we bought it before he was laid off (this most recent time) and I had it stowed away in my hiding spot for weeks and weeks.  I've been so terrified he'd find it, as a long shot gun box is tough to hide!

Happy 30th Birthday Babe!  I hope after the breakfast in bed, the signs and cards that were painted and "signed" by the girls, the kisses, the brownies, the Jambalaya and Chili's appetizers, the hugs and the presents made you feel blessed to turn 30.  I hope you felt very special on your big day.  We're going through a lot, and it was nice to forget about it all for awhile and celebrate how much we love you.  Next up- Sunday Dinner at Nana's with your special menu :)

Now that it's -1 degree outside with a wind chill of -21, I need to go make some hot tea and take a hot shower.  It feels good to catch up a little on the blog though.  Now that I work a few days a week, I haven't had time to type.  When I'm not working I'm catching up on all the other things a "Mom" has to do....

The pictures are going to be all scattered around...Sorry, but that's how our lives feel these days!

Until Next time.....
I've gotta throw a couple pictures of things I didn't write about, just because I'm playing catch-up, and this picture was super cute.  We were wondering where Lux was, and this is where we found her.  Pi was in Heaven!
Lucy was pulling Piper with all of her strength, and Pi wasn't budging! HAHAHAHA!
 This one is so sweet!
The girls got new car seats!  Pi moved on up to Lucy's and Lucy is finally in her "big girl" one :)  Piper has been SO much happier in the car now that she can look around!  It's been great!
Girls talking to each other through the glass door.  I loved watching them!
I'm bummed.  Beacuse of the bright white snow, you can't tell how HUGE this mound is.  It almost came up to my chest, so it's pretty tall.  Lucy had so much fun climbing it!
Breakfast in bed for the Birthday Boy Man!
I hope all their wishes come true :)
Oh, and let's not forget that the Super Bowl was last week as well.  We rooted for the Bronco's since Piper is a Denver Baby and we lived there for a little over 2 years.  But they got stomped.  The Seahawks killed them.  Oh well.  It was a really fun day anyway.  I LOVE the Super Bowl no matter who plays!  The girl's were in their Orange and blue!  Lu's shirt doesn't look orange in the pictures, but it was I promise!
My Silly Girls!
 "Where's Lucy?  It's too quiet....."
Today we did a fun project!  We took all of our old crayons and melted them into big crayons.  Lucy did really good at helping me peel them all! That part took forever, but it was fun :)
And finally- the King Cake.  The Gilley's shipped it up to us over night for Shawn's birthday/Mardi Gras so that we could enjoy it.  The Louisiana people are famous for their King Cakes.  They eat them around Mardi Gras, and the tradition is, if you're the one to find the baby that is baked inside, you will have good fortune and prosperity for the year to come.  This is my second year in a row getting the baby, and we haven't had much "fortune," but I'm crossing my fingers that this year will be different.  I love good luck charms!
