A Name and a Blessing

We had a special day for our little peanut yesterday.  She was given a "Grandfathers" blessing by my Dad- her Papa Smidt.  It was a small gathering with a few of my favorite people- my parents, her great grandparents, her Uncle Jess, and her Howard cousins.  She wore a cute white eyelet dress and baggy infant tights :)  As he held her in his arms, Papa said the sweetest words.  I wanted him to bless her because I don't know a more spiritual and wise man. But most importantly, a man who loves his little Lucy. To me, it was a very special day.

As he held my baby girl for her blessing, she "talked" right along with him with her sweet little voice.  Without going into too much detail, I'll write a summary of this special prayer. He spoke about her growing up and the things he wishes for her and wants for her and it brought tears to my eyes.  He listed attributes he hopes she has as she grows and told her how important she is; how she is a choice spirit and was saved for these Last Days.

I sincerely hope my baby girl always knows how much her Daddy and I love her.  I want her to grow up with strength and knowledge and the ability to "choose the right."  I pray she knows that she is an example to her parents and maybe someday she will understand that she was sent here to teach us many lessons about love and life.

I love you, Lucy Barbara.  Don't ever forget that.  You bring me so much joy and happiness. You hold my heart in your adorable, pudgy little hands, and I have never been more grateful for anything or anyone in my entire life.

Milestones!

As Lucy entered  her 4th month of life, she managed to impress Mommy and Daddy by reaching new milestones and figuring out that she can move around!  Here are some pictures to show you that this phase of her life is anything but boring!

Ok, This isn't a milestone, this just shows how cute I am

I got to get out of the "Safety net" in my bathtub and sit like a big girl and kick all around!
My first time in long sleeves and jeans!

I turned 4 months old...when all the fun begins!
I went duck watching with Mom in the park!

I ate Rice cereal for the FIRST TIME! It was pretty good... It just took a little getting used to.
This was my first time being in an upright position in my stroller...I'm a little confused...where is my carseat?  It's pretty  neat that my upper body is strong enough so that I can sit up and look around!
Mom gave me a mohawk....my hair is growing!
First time in Jeans!

Shots are no fun...but before my shots, I was pretty happy!
Mom lets me hang out and watch my shows.  I like to relax and prop my feet up.  It's my down time.  Actually, it's mom's time to quickly get ready and/or clean ;)
I can turn from front to back and ALMOST from back to front, but my head gets stuck!
More Tummy Time?  I hate tummy time!
I FOUND MY FEET!  I love playing with them, and Mom and Dad like it too, because now I have something to keep me entertained for longer periods of time ;)

I am just too cute!

Although you can't hear me by just looking at this picture....I learned to laugh.  And my parents think it's so cute!  I like to hear myself laugh so sometimes I get going and I just can't stop myself!

I ate green beans for my first veggies!  I liked them, but they also made me gag sometimes.  I did pretty good though and I'm getting a lot better at using a spoon :)

Here is me gagging on my green beans.  But I promise, they aren't so bad.  I just didn't know what to think at first!

Well, Lucy is just getting sillier and more entertaining EVERY single day.  She can say her "N's," although it's pretty random and it just sounds like "nanana" but it's almost like "Mama," so we will see who she starts calling out to first- me or her dad ;)  She is trying to figure out how to sit unsupported, and she is so giggly and wiggly.  Changing her diaper is so hard because she likes to try to fling herself off the changing table!  I didn't know I'd have to start baby proofing my house so soon, but it looks like she's gonna be on the move before I know it!  She isn't sleeping through the night as well as she's supposed to (according to the baby books) but when I see her smile at me in the mornings after a long night, I can't stay mad.  It's like I just made her whole day by just going in to get her out of bed in the mornings and it melts my heart ever single time!
Stay tuned for more milestones and accomplishments from our little sweetheart :)
