Happy Halloween

Halloween came and went and we had the most beautiful Princesses ever.....Totally unoriginal, but extremely cute; my girls dressed as Anna and Elsa from Frozen.  I liked that they could be a theme together- Elsa is the older Sister, so that was Lucy.  And Anna is the younger one, so that was Pipes.

We went trick-or-treating in the busiest, awesomest, craziest neighborhood I've ever been to on Halloween (my current neighborhood) and for the first 30 minutes the girls had so much fun!  Then a big, scary, red-eyed, fake dog jumped out at Lucy and scared her to death!  She screamed and started bawling and so we walked home (after stopping by just a few more houses on the way) and the girls were seated on the couch 15 minutes later, stuffing their faces with candy.  A short-but-sweet trick-or-treating night (but considering the amount of candy they each came home with makes me certain that it was a successful event)!  It was Piper's first year struttin' her stuff on Halloween and everyone "oooh'd" and "ahhh'd" over the girls.

Halloween in New England is HUGE because this is the area where all the scary stuff happened hundreds of years ago (witches burned at the stake and such).  You never see a scary movie about witches or ghosts that take place out West.  It's ALWAYS New England, so up here they do it right!  The streets in my neighborhood were blocked off to any cars and there were HUNDREDS of people in the middle of all of the streets.  The houses were decorated to the extreme and there was Halloween music playing everywhere.  It was more like a festival.

*Side note: tons of houses had bowls of candy out front that said "please take one" if they weren't home.  I didn't know people still did that!  I thought teenagers around the world had ruined that, but not here- people were very honest and respectful and didn't take more than the sign told them to take. No pumpkins were smashed, no houses were broken into. It was a safe and fun evening for all the twin-cities residents.*

The Catholic Church, the Museum, the Fire Department and the public library (all in a row one street over from my house) were all decked out and had tons of candy and snacks for the kids.  Half of the houses we went to passed out goody-bags instead of just one or two pieces of candy.  It was a big event!  I ran out of candy because I didn't know JUST HOW BIG Halloween was up in these parts- we had SO. MANY. KIDS.  Next year I will be prepared!

It was a fun and spoooooky night and I'm happy that, despite Lucy's scare, the girls (and Shawn and I) had fun.

Just another memory to add to our "New England" adventures :)
Halloween breakfast Lunch.  Orange Pancakes!

In the midst of all the festivities, I forgot to mention that it was also Mr. Lux' 1st birthday :)  Way to stay tough in the sea of Crazy Sister's you have, big guy :)
Lucy thinks she's SO hilarious when she crosses her eyes.  She does it frequently and says to me "Laugh at me, Mommy!" She's definitely our little comedian!
But then she redeems herself and lets me snap a beautiful picture afterwards :)
Lucy LOVED her eye make-up. She was SO proud of the eye shadow, glitter and the mascara that I put on her extra-LONG eyelashes.  She ran to show it off to Daddy when I was finished :) She is such a girly girl!
I'm glad she felt so pretty.  Cause she really is a beauty!
Her crazy long eyelashes.  She has no idea that women buy fake eyelashes that can't even compare to hers! I hope they stay long forever!  Piper has really long and dark ones too!  Lucky ladies!
Something was making this cute girl laugh hard!
Tomorrow we leave for Vermont for a few days.  Hooray for no chores! :)
