The Days are Long but the Years are Short

'Aint that the truth....

Lucy's given me so many days full of grief (if I'm being honest) and those days are sooooo long!  But man.  You look back at the 5 years of sunshine she's given me, and it's almost a blur because it's flown by so fast.  FIVE years?!  Five whole years ago I was pushing my hardest and scared to death that they'd have to take her via C-Section until they finally were able to vacuum her out.  Then she had trouble breathing so a team rushed into my room and whisked her away from me to suck her lungs out.  And all through my pregnancy with her I was in SO much pain.  Every day hurt.  But finally.  FINALLY.  5 years ago, at 1:25pm, I held her in my arms and watched her struggle to figure out what was going on in her little life as she laid on my chest and we held each other. I was the only one who could comfort her.  Skin to skin.  Heart to heart.  Me and the beautiful girl that made me a Mom.
I'm not sure where she got her girly gene from (not!) but this girl is all about anything and everything GIRLY.  So it was no surprise that for her birthday she asked me for a day at the Salon. And it was every bit as magical as she dreamed it would be in her pretty little head.  She told me at dinner that it was the BEST part of the day.  Especially getting her hair washed in the sink :)  I told her she could choose how short she wanted it cut and she wanted it to her chin! They gave her an A-Line hair-cut and cut 7 inches off! Piper got her hair styled just the way she wanted it, and they both got manicures!
Yes, she wanted a pink streak in her hair.  She got pink, Piper got purple.  Hehe, don't worry- they're just clip-ins :)
I so love my Lucy Lu.  She is witty.  She is sassy.  She is funny- OH SO FUNNY! She is smart.  She is a snuggle bug.  She is social.  She is silly.  She is energetic.  She hates to be alone.  She loves me and I love her...more than all the leaves on all the trees.

And, even though I don't like sharing posts, I have to say that my baby boy turned 3 months old! He is the happiest baby (when being held) and his smile can light up a room!  He LOVES people.  Seriously.  If you're having a bad day, I'll loan him to you just so you can see his smile.  He loves you if you pay attention to him.  He's just the BEST!
And, the girls had another dentist appointment and still no cavities.  Lucy even got X-Rays this time!  Life is oh-so-busy! We move in 38 days! WOO HOO!  I am running around NON STOP and it's a struggle, but it's gonna be SO worth it! Wish me luck!

Some of the last days at preschool.  Lucy has loved it here, and I have loved it for her! We will miss it so much!

What a Trip!

It's been a whirlwind week..and I loved EVERY minute.  Took Sully to meet the Boise family this weekend.  Just me and my sweet boy! We met almost everyone!  I SO wish I could have taken the girls as well, but 1) NO WAY could I fly alone with 3 kids.  NO STINKIN' WAY.  And 2) Flights across country are way too expensive.  But it was too important to me to have Sully meet his Aunts and Smidt family, so we trekked out here for a quick (and I mean QUICK) trip.  Between moving, Shawn's vacation time and the Smidt family's upcoming Summer schedule, this was the only time we could make it work.  And now I'm sitting in the SLC airport on a 3 hour layover so I'm blogging while I can!
We did some super fun stuff on the trip.  Friday was packed (but in a good way!). Sully got to meet Nana and Pops Smidt for a few hours while they were in town.  They couldn't stay long, but it was just enough time for cuddles and kisses.
Next, my Mama treated me and my sisters to pedicures and lunch. It was soooo nice to spend time with just the girls! Nana Raine and Tawni babysat all the kids for us so that we could relax and have adult time.  It was fun to banter back and forth but also laugh a lot! Loved it!
Then, just the "Sisters" got together and went shopping and ate dinner that night.  It was awesome!  I haven't had a Sister's Only night since before I had kids!  We've only all been together a handful of times in the past few years and never without kids and/or husbands!  So it was a much needed, much anticipated night.  My sisters and I are all so goofy that we had such a blast just being silly together like old times.  We got lots of candy, went to lots of shops, had Sushi for dinner, and did a lip sync in Tiff's minivan to a Mom song as a "Thank you" to my Mom for babysitting all our kids. HA.  It was so much fun! I LOVED it!  We were laughing SOOOO hard, we could hardly film the lip sync without cracking up too much.  I seriously have such a blast with my Sisters.  I'm so lucky!
On Saturday we attended sweet and sassy Evvy's 3rd birthday party.  No boys allowed (except Sully).  The little girls danced and ate tons of sprinkles and giggled a lot. It was so adorable. Coley had it decorated SO cute! I really wished Piper and Lucy could have been there.  They would have had soooo much fun with all their girl cousins.
The rest of the weekend was down time.  And that's the best time, sometimes; relaxation and conversation.  I love my family.  I'm so lucky that I've seen BOTH sides of the family this month!
Now I get to go home and get crackin' on this move! I. Cant. Wait.
We barely had time to say "hi" and "bye" to each other. We met at a bagel place outside of the airport right after he flew in, I handed him Piper, he gave me a kiss and I was off! Busy, busy!
I always love flying above the clouds :)
On a layover, Sully facetimed with Daddy...look how HAPPY he was to see him!
Off to New Hampshire we go...The last time we will EVER have to fly allllll the way across the country :)
