Cold

Not much to blog about lately....here's the scoop.

Painfully cold temps.  Mountains of snow.  More cold temps.  More mountains of snow.  Cooped inside forever.  Beanies and gloves worn in our house.  Gray days.  More painfully cold temps.  More snow.  Cabin Fever.  Frigid temps.  Ice for days.  More snow.  Windchill down to -55 for days on end.  Blizzard.  Winter storm warnings every other day.  Temps that never get above the teens for days. Coldness that seeps into your bones.  More snow.  More Ice. Stir-Crazy.  And more cold.

The Laird/Gilley Wedding!

Oh my goodness we are finally home after a horrendous day of travel!  (More on that later).....but we came back from another trip down to Louisiana to celebrate James and Christine's wedding!  It was, hands down, the most fun wedding I've ever been to!  They had the best band I've ever heard (flown in from New Orleans), the most delicious real Southern food (with all the fixin's!), and beautiful decorations!  It was definitely a wedding to remember! We are so thankful that Aunt Debbie and Uncle Tony flew us in for the event.  At the actual ceremony, Lucy and Piper were a little squirmy....when Christine walked down the aisle and everyone had seated back down Piper looked up and saw her at the altar and yelled "SHE'S PRETTY!" She wouldn't stop yelling it- loudly! It was a little embarrassing.....eventually she had to be taken out and calmed down for a few minutes, but other than that, it was a sweet and beautiful ceremony.  I loved being there to watch!  Shawn was an Usher with Uncle Matt and man, oh man- did he look handsome!  He was in a well-tailored Tux and I just loved how good he looked!

The reception that followed was the best!  The girls couldn't stop dancing!  Literally, even during the couples first dance we had to coax them off the floor and they didn't want to budge.  They danced for hours! The next day Lucy kept telling us her legs were sore! Haha, they were crazy amounts of adorable!  They definitely were the Belle's of the Ball (well, them and the bride!).

We had SO much fun!  I met more family and friends that I've never met (people were there from California even) and it was so much fun to get to be a part of Christine and Jame's big day!  They are such a sweet couple and they will have a lifetime full of love, I just know it :)
First we had a Rehearsal dinner on Friday night at a restaurant called "Warehouse No.1" and they had AMAZING food.  I got a seafood platter cause I just can't resist fresh oysters and shrimp.  The girls were invited and even had their own place settings :)  It was a 5 course meal and I went home with a deliciously full belly!
The Gilley girls! (Christa is just as much of a Gilley as I am, although it's not quite official.....YET!)
Waiting for the ceremony to start!
Ceremony's over- time to dance!
Christine was such a stunning bride! Such a beautiful night!
Had so much fun with this gang that night!  Matt and Christa, Lauren and Keke, and Shawn and I
My girls LOVE Uncle Keke!
Flying home the next morning was where the fun stopped...First, we had to be up at 4:30 because we had a 6:25 am flight to catch.  We wanted to sleep on the plane so badly because we didn't get to bed 'til after 1 am the night before, but immediately after getting on the plane, Piper choked on a piece of candy so badly that she threw up everywhere....So after cleaning that up and making sure she was OK I couldn't sleep because of the smell of her throw-up, and also she had become quite hyper after that fiasco....Next flight was delayed an hour and we BARELY made our connecting flight.  We sprinted through the Atlanta terminal for a good 30 minutes to get to our next flight (seriously, why do they make connecting flight gates SOOOO far away from the other gates?! Especially in one of the biggest, busiest airports ever?).  On our 3rd and what we thought was our final flight, we were about to descend into Manchester, the pilot informed us that due to the weather he can't land the plane and so he is rerouting us to Albany, NY.  We get to Albany where they tell us that there would be no more outgoing flights that night (fog was too thick) and so they were going to either put us up in a hotel or we could take a bus or rent a car to drive home.  Shawn HAD to be at work the next day and I really didn't want to sit in a crowded bus with 2 cranky, crying girls for 4 more hours (the other passengers would be so mad), so we bit the bullet and rented a minivan to drive back to the Manchester airport to pick up our car.  We drove 6 hours home and crashed at 2am.  We thought we'd be home by 3:45pm that day, not 2am.  So we traveled with two extremely CRANKY and exhausted girls (not to mention Shawn and I were delirious from being so tired) for 21 hours.  It was a total nightmare.  I have never been more thankful to be home!!

I am, however, missing my Louisiana family and wishing we could go to the wedding all over again, but relieved that we have NO MORE travel plans anytime soon.  Time to relax :)
