So we took a little vacation this past week and got to go to Cape Cod for 3 days! Shawn has to be there for a week and I have too much going on in my life to go down with him for the whole week, but decided to drive down separately and spend a couple days there, because who can resist a free vacation to "The Cape" (as the locals call it)? Unfortunately it's off-season right now so a lot of stuff was closed. We have learned that in New England- because of the harsh Winters- there is such thing as "off-season" and "open-season" for EVERYTHING and pretty much every touristy place turns into a ghost town during the off months. Luckily it is Spring break in Hyannis (aka Cape Cod) so a lot of little shops opened up for the week and we were able to do a little sightseeing.
We walked downtown a bit and of course went to a famous candy store where kids get baskets to fill as soon as they walk in. Little hands move so fast and you don't want to be the Mom who's trying to put candy back in the bins that it came from, so we spent way too much, haha! Those tricky candy-store people know EXACTLY what they're doing!
The downtown area is cute and quaint. We also drove around the harbor and saw all the big yachts and sailboats. The beaches are pretty because the sand is white and so gives you more of a tropical island vibe, in my opinion. The rest of the town is not what you would think. It's kind of rundown and junky with TERRIBLE roads! But right on the beach where all the little shops are is where the pretty part of The Cape is. We went to a beach and although it was way too cold to swim, we were blessed with 65° weather and the girls dipped their toes in and we enjoyed feeling the sunshine on our skin! It was Sully's first time at the beach! It's pretty cool that he can say his first time at the beach was in Cape Cod :-)
When they grab each other's hands to hold, it lights up my world. I love these 2 sisters! |
If she isn't the cutest little 3 year old I ever did see.....
Speaking of Sullivan, he turned two months old! With the good comes the bad, however, and he got his yucky shots today. Poor baby. He handled them much better than his sisters ever did, but he still screamed and turned bright red until I picked him up, and then he was fine. He loves to smile at us, he is getting quite talkative with all his cute cooing and he is growing, growing, growing as usual! He is 23 1/2 inches long which is 65% in height and is 13 lbs. 15 oz. which is 80% in weight. He HATES being strapped into his carseat, but as soon as we start driving he falls asleep (thankfully). He lights up big-time every time Daddy comes around… Go figure… Lucy is still just as obsessed with him as she always has been, and surprise! Piper has grown to REALLY love him as well. Piper has become such a little Mommy. She loves that baby brother of hers. He still always HAS to be held. He HATES getting his nails clipped but is SUCH a light sleeper (and not a good napper) that I can't do it when he sleeps. I cut his skin so bad the other night and he bled for so long and I just sobbed and sobbed. It was a deep cut. I seriously worried he would need stitches. Total Mom Fail!
He loves to be outside in the sunshine- it relaxes him so he takes after his Mommy in that way :) He still has sweet Baby's Breath. He still not sleeping through the night consistently, although he has been nice to me a few times and given me four or five and even one night SEVEN hours of sleep! But for the most part he still waking up every 2 to 3 hours to eat (still an amazing eater). So I'm still tired. And although I've said this a million times I'll say it a million more, that boy is the love of my life. I honestly did not know I could ever love a little boy as much as I love my Sullivan.
'Cause I can't just take one.....
Now here are some other highlights of our month, starting with a really disappointing loss to Nova during the Final March Madness game!
Dressed up as a Caddy for "Master's Sunday" |
Above pictures we had SNOW :( It was April 10th. Below pictures we had SUNSHINE (April 14th), finally, and that called for T-shirts for the first time all year. Spring is FINALLY here! We flipped over the trampoline and soon we will be getting all our outdoor toys out! Yay!
Finally gave in and bought a cup. I'm tired of getting showered every diaper change, hehe! |
