Daddy/Daughter Dance!

We once again had our semi-annual Daddy/Daughter dance last night. The girls just love going dancing with Shawn. I LOVE that our community does these. He has made it a tradition to "ask" them to the dance with a single rose and then afterwards, they ask me to dry their roses for them to keep them forever :)
Last night's theme was Western and it was called a "Scoot Bootin' Boogy" dance. I didn't have actual cowboy hats for the girls and it was WAY too hot for jeans, but we improvised a bit and I think they just look beyond darling!
Sully is once again sick, so him and I stayed home and did breathing treatments instead of having our own fun :-( I HATE ASTHMA.
Shawn had to go out of town last week and had a SUPER early flight out. He left this message for the girls on their bathroom mirror for them to see when they woke up. It says "Daddy loves you girls with ALL his heart. I will miss you very much but can't wait to take you to the Daddy/Daughter Dance!!" He's a pretty sweet Daddy.
Earlier that day we took all the kids to get their flu shots and then on our way home we decided to stop by another free community event and play for a little bit. Because we didn't know about this in advance and Sully was sick, we weren't able to stay long but next year we will plan on making a day out of it! It was SO cool! Tons of bounce houses and slides and life size dart games, sack races, face painting, family pictures, horse riding, carriage riding, haircuts, live band, food etc. and EVERYTHING was free! I wish we could have stayed longer! Our community is so amazing. There is always something going on for the kids and it's almost always free. It's just so family oriented here and I am so grateful for it.
Look at her face. This is pure JOY!
We are still just chugging along in school. This week will officially put us at the 1 month mark and luckily it seems to have flown by.  Only 8 more to go.... :-/ Here's some more random pictures from the past couple of weeks. Sully and I have lots of park dates together and he is SO happy on that playground!
They still ask to dress the same sometimes and I adore it. Lucy takes Piper to class everyday and she said "Mommy, I bet Mrs. Cotton won't even be able to tell us apart when I drop Piper off!" Hehehe
That's all for now, friends! Have a HAPPY week!

Fresh Lemonade!

The epitome of Childhood- a Lemonade Stand! Didn't we all sell something as children? I know I sold kittens (yes, real, live kittens) and fancy hair bows (that my mom made, but I got the money for, haha!).  Well, my kids decided that they wanted to do a Lemonade Stand!  So I made them make the posters (I helped a little with Piper's but Lucy did hers ALL BY HERSELF (can't you tell by how ADORABLE those block letters are?!) and we got busy making lemonade! Ok, I cheated....it wasn't ALL fresh. BUT- it was the Kirkland Organic kind, with extra sugar ('cause it's a little tart and Southerners like their drinks sweet so we added a little) and yes- I did squeeze some fresh organic lemons in there! So, it was half-homemade. Anyway, we had TONS of people show up! We set up camp on our street corner in our neighborhood and so many people came by! It was Labor Day so a lot of people were out taking walks and going on bike rides so they'd come by. Even a police officer came by to support the girls AND give them Police stickers and bracelets. The girls made $36.87.  I assumed they'd make maybe $9 or $10 but they actually did awesome! They gave Sully some coins and divvied up the rest between their Piggy Bank (which isn't allowed to be open until it's full!) and wallet. Not bad for 2 hours! But they're so cute....can you blame them?!
We also finally ventured out to the Zoo. We don't go to our Zoo and Aquarium very often but we promise the kids at least once each Summer.  The Zoo is always so much fun and this time we got to see an Elephant bathe herself! It was amazing how much water she can suck up into her trunk in seconds and then bring backwards to douse her back with.  I was in awe! I just LOVE Zoo's!
Anyway, the kids are doing GREAT in school- they LOVE seeing each other in the hallways throughout the day- and Sully is just eating up his alone time with me each morning. He likes that he has free reign of the girls' room where he can get into all their stuff without them telling him "no." He loves getting my full attention and he walks around like he owns the place. Then at the same time, his face lights up when Piper gets home from school each day.  So it's a pretty good system.
Don't they darling for picture day? It's one of my favorite days of school because I love seeing all the sweet, innocent faces throughout the whole school coming in dressed to the nines. The boys' hair is perfectly gelled and the girls are in big bows and curls. It's so cute!
I also started teaching Piano lessons and so far I am liking it more than I expected to.  Just 2 students is all I have and all I have time for.  It's not a lot but I'm actually really grateful that a couple students fell through, because holy smokes I'm busy! We have something every single night, except Fridays. Life is crazy!

Lucy's homework load is insane.  I can't even believe all they have 1st graders doing. But, it is what it is! At least Shawn is home more often to help me.  He's gone this week but was home all of last week and that was such a blessing!

Football has started- YAY (I'm trying to do my best Football lip colors each game)! And I love that the nights are cooling down (it's been in the 60's at night! Crazy temperature drop seeing as how it was still in the 80's every night until just a couple weeks ago) and I can't believe September is going by so fast! Halloween is just around the corner! Yikes!
Sooooo, Happy {almost} Fall!
