SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW! NooooooOOOooooOOooooo!!!!! :( :( It has been SUCH a nice break! Yeah, the kids have fought and gotten on each others nerves this past week (that's normal) but we slept in every single day (except Christmas) and caught up on much needed sleep and I am NOT ready for early mornings again. When I say slept in, I mean like, there were days that we slept 'til 10!! That's NEVER happened before. I kept saying to myself "I need to go to the gym during this break" but sleep sounded so much better. The gym will still be there next week, but the chance to sleep in won't be. So I chose sleep and I don't even feel guilty about it. But now it ends tomorrow. It felt GOOD to be lazy this break. I think it's the laziest we've ever been for 2 weeks straight. It was fabulous.
Even on New Year's Eve we didn't get all fancy-schmancy like we usually do. I was in sweats and no one wore any makeup! Actually, I take that back- Piper did her own make up, haha. The girls got a kid makeup kit for Christmas. But usually we get dolled up (even though we stay home) and have a little celebration in our family room around 7pm. This year, yes, we still did our little countdown with sparkling cider, but we were all a little lazy about it. I don't know where my energy went this year. I just didn't have it in me to do anything "extra." We did get some cool confetti bombs, but that was the extent of our "party."
Over break we obviously celebrated the holidays, we went to some friends' house one night, Lucy had a friend over a couple of times, we went ice-skating (more on that later), we went to the mall once, and we went to Hobby Lobby and Target once. That's it. We stayed home the rest of the time, haha! Oh yeah, I did get groceries... and Shawn had to go out of town for 3 days so he was gone for part of it. But for the most part we did NOTHING. It was great ;-) It felt like so much longer than just 2 weeks actually. I loved it.
Before you judge me.... let me explain. He went on a 3 day stint of NO FOOD. He would NOT eat no matter how much I bribed him. Not sure why, but it was rough. 3 whole days! So, one night while he was in the bathtub, he asked me for some dinner. And just like that, I gave in. I know, I know...not my finest hour. But he wanted food and I wanted him to eat, so this is what we did! |
Now about ice skating.....
We went ice skating yesterday!⛸It was all 3 of my kids’ 1st time on skates, and my first time skating in 64 degree sunshiny weather☀️{That was awesome}. I haven’t skated in years but we had THE BEST TIME. Shawn and I even tried to do a routine together (he’s actually better than me😂) but I couldn’t keep up so I just laughed until I couldn’t breathe and let him pull me all around the ice instead. It was the best family “date” ever.⛸
Happy New Year from the Gilleys! Piper even did her own makeup to ring in 2019 {at 7pm ‘cause.... kids}. Anyway, our psuedo-countdown was fun!🎉🍾🥂
I hope everyone has a less depressing January than I'm about to have ;-)
Good night!
