Hey! So I haven’t written in a few weeks because blogging is just really getting old for me to be honest, and it’s like something I have to FORCE myself to get done. I know I’ve said it a zillion times, but I blog for the printed books that I buy of my blog annually. But man. Keeping up with 3 kids and all their schedules and activities, homework, working part-time, volunteering at their school weekly, being a mom in general, etc etc etc is just feeling like a LOT. Plus Shawn was gone a lot this month so that makes me even busier AND him and I started a 12 week marriage course together (New Year Resolution) so it seems like I don’t have a single night free to blog... ever! So blogging gets put on the back burner and who knows if I will keep it up for much longer! Part of me feels bad for Sully if I quit- like, I have 8 1/2 years of blog books about Lucy, 7 years of Piper but only 4 for him? That’s not fair! But....3rd child problems, am I right!? Hahaha! But its just hard! I’m writing this blog right now while sitting on the sidelines at Lucy’s basketball practice just because this is the only time I can squeeze it in! February is just around the corner and I haven’t kept up with January!
But I can give you a summary of our month.
Basically, we’ve had a month spent at doctors and dentists. Here’s my list of January’s ailments!
*Lucy had to go to the dentist twice to fix 4 cavities- one of which was so bad that her tooth had to be extracted.
*Then she went back to the dentist to get a frenectomy on her upper lip- when they gave her the shots on her top lip to numb it, she screamed and I cried.
*Piper had to go to the dentist twice to fix 7 cavities- one of which was a root canal that was capped off with a silver tooth.
*Sullivan got his teeth cleaned and had 0 cavities (praise Jesus).
*I had a tooth crumble underneath a crown due to horrible decay. The tooth was dead so I couldn’t feel that it was rotting away. I needed an extraction and it broke apart into “17,000 pieces” (as my dentist joked). Some of the tiny shards were stuck way down deep in my gums and had to be cut out with lots of tiny scalpels. I am 2 weeks out and STILL sore. That was SO painful. I was not put under (just numb) and it took him 2 hours to get it all out. Then another hour to pack all the bone graft in for my implant that I’ll get in a few months and stitch me up. It was brutal.... and it also required 2 additional check up appointments- 1 because I had goopy white stuff coming out of my gums the next day, and the second to get my stitches out- thank goodness. Those were awful!
*Sully got tubes put in his ears and his adenoids taken out.
*Lucy had to go to Urgent Care for strep.
*I had to go to the gynecologist (twice- once for an ultrasound that made me miss being pregnant!!) to make sure I didn’t have fibroids (just cysts, thank goodness!) but need to get checked for endometriosis soon...
*Girls had to go to the ENT to get their tonsils looked at and they both need their tonsils out badly- so that’s coming up in March.
*Sully went back to the ENT for a follow up hearing test and they determined his hearing loss is officially gone! I’m so thankful for modern medicine!
Today we might be taking Sully to the doctor becuase he has a lowgrade fever and is coughing and acting sick- so I worry that he could have caught strep from Lucy.
So.... I think we set a record for how many doctors appointments we had collectively within 27 days. It has been NUTS.
In the midst of all of this chaos, Lucy started basketball. I know she will read this someday so hopefully she wont be offended... but basketball is NOT her strong suit, hahaha! I must say though, that I am extremely proud of her! She started not knowing how to even dribble, and now she’s doing awesome at dribbling! It has been so much fun to watch her improve! Now... guarding her player, trying to get the ball, and shooting baskets proves to be too much for her at this age, but she loves the game and tries her best and that is ALL I can ask for! She’s the tiniest one in the team so she never gets passed the ball, but I don’t even really think she registers that Her team is called Purple Lightning and she is number 15 :)
Shawn went down to New Orleans to be part of the madness during the big LSU championship against Clemson in the Mercedes Super Dome. And LSU won! He said the atmosphere down there was electric. It was crazier than Mardi Gras, he was on "Game Day" (on ESPN) and he spent 3 days with his BEST friends. He had the absolute best time. I was so happy for him!
Anyway. We head into February starting out with the Super Bowl! We don’t love either team; it’s the first year in a long time that I don’t favor one team over the other, but we still do all the fun food anyway- it’s tradition! Then Shawn’s birthday is right after that, Valentines Day after that, Sully’s 4th birthday after that, and a Leap Year this year!
So here we go!
Some pictures of January- we got a few centimeters of snow one day! We also had a few days that were almost 70 degrees. AND Lucy won another award at school for Optimism! Love it :)
And some things never change- he still HATES wearing clothes and is NEVER cold..... Even on 45 degree days...
I'll end on that note :)
