Ah, one of my all-time favorite songs. Every time I think of the "The Castle in the Clouds" here, I sing that little song in my head :) There is, in fact a castle in the clouds (in Moultonborough, NH) and we visited it last week. It's an old Castle that was built high up on a hill in the early 1900's. There is so much fog at the base of it all the time so it looks like its floating on a cloud. It's near Lake Winnepasakee, which is where the fog comes from. *Fun little fact- Mitt Romney owns a house on Lake Winnepasakee. Yep. Which makes it my new favorite lake ;-)* It was neat to see the old stable house as well where they used to keep their horses- they turned it into a restaurant and each stall where the horses used to stay had a table in it, which is where you ate. Gave each table some privacy from the other tables. I just thought it looked neat!

A tea party on vintage fine china. So quaint. |
Anyway, the castle was fun to tour (the landscaping was even better!), but the best part may have been the Pond behind it- Shannon Pond. There were GINORMOUS trout- we are talking 2-3 foot long trout. They literally jump out of the water to catch food. Piper dropped her toy duck in the water and within half a second these monsters were jumping all over the place fighting over it and trying to eat it! It was crazy and the girls LOVED it.
We also went on a train ride to look at the Fall Foliage in our town of Lincoln. It goes through some of the Appalachian mountains and the White National Forest. It was the girls' first train ride and when the conductor came around to punch everyone's ticket, he gave Lucy the hole puncher to punch her own. It was hard for her little hands, so Daddy helped, but she was really excited. The girls thought being on a train was so cool. Especially Lucy. Every time it went "CHOOO CHOOO!" Lucy laughed! I love seeing the world through her eyes :)
Yes, Piper chose her own hat :) |
The rest of the pictures are just some from our Fall days here. I've never seen a more beautiful time of year (even though not a single picture I've taken can capture it all!) and we are enjoying each and every day before it's not so gorgeous anymore....
These are the trees in my backyard. I took these with my cell phone one morning when they were at their "peak." Unfortunately, my camera broke in Canada and so my cell phone was all I had for the absolute most "peak days" of Fall foliage. Which meant we missed that small window of time to take the Family Pictures I had in mind :( These beautiful colors don't grace the background of our pictures, but at least we got them done and I did get some cute ones! I'll post them eventually :)
Happy Fall Y'all!
I just love your family and all the fun times you have! Such a cute adorable family. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
