Miss Maisy

More big news from The Gilley's!  We added a brand new member to our family!  She comes all the way from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho The North Pole!  Santa dropped her on our front porch yesterday with a big bow around her neck.  He included a letter to the girls about why he was bringing her early.  It had nothing to do with Delta's flight regulations on her size and weight vs. her crate.  Nope, he brought her early because he wanted her to be settled into a new home by Christmas so she had a real family to open gifts with on Christmas morning.
Originally, she wasn't supposed to be here until Christmas Eve.  I had been buying a few treats and toys here and there to fill up her stocking with, which I had to use yesterday instead.  We thought we had 2 more weeks to prepare our house for a puppy.  But she was weighed last week and they put her in her crate.... and then realized she was HUGE.  Sherene called me in a panic telling me she was outgrowing it rapidly!  We had to get her to the vet for a Health Certificate, book a flight ASAP and she was here 3 days later!  It worked out perfectly.  Shawn had a meeting that ended at noon only 3 miles from the airport, and her flight landed at noon so he was able to pick her up without having to take any time off work (he only has to be in Manchester once a quarter and he just happened to have that meeting on the same day she landed- such a convenient coincidence!  Convenient because we live over an hour away from the airport).  She was on a red-eye Thursday night and at 9am PST on Friday (12 here) she had landed safe and sound.
We snuck her into our bedroom easily because we have an outside door into our room.  I bathed her (she was dirty from messing in her crate) and then Shawn came up, brought her back down-stairs from outside, put her on the front porch and knocked loudly.  Then he hid and that's when Lucy and Piper discovered her :)  It went off without a hitch!
She's only been here for 26 hours but we all ADORE her so very much!  She is the biggest sweetie!  The girls were so excited to answer the door when Santa knocked.  There she was: a cute little puppy just waiting for her forever home!  Piper and Lucy squealed for a solid hour and Lucy would NOT leave her side.  She was offering her all of her toys to share with her. "Maisy, do you want a doll?  Maisy, do you want this book?  Maisy, do you want my blanket?"  It was sweet.  She has been very nurturing to her this whole time.  She covers her with blankets when she naps, she brings her all of her toys, she puts her food bowl next to her mouth when she sleeps so that she has something to eat right when she wakes up.  She is so in love.  Piper likes her too, but Piper is more of the wrestler.  Maisy gets a lot of pulling and tugging from Piper, and a lot of snuggles from Lucy.  But she loves them both!  She's currently sitting at my feet as I write this, just snoozin' away.  She's 10 weeks old and we just love her so much already.  The potty-training is going; she has about a 50% success rate.  Luckily we have hardwood floors so it is super easy to clean up.  Gone are the days of scrubbing carpet when a dog had an accident! We will get there soon. I know it!
Lucy's buns never get old!
How cute is THIS?!?
Hehehe
I'm also including our trip to see Santa!  Lucy jumped right up on his lap, but Piper was a little nervous.  She was happy on the Elf's lap though, so we improvised.  This was one of the best Santa's we have seen. He was SO great with the girls! Lucy asked for a Puppy and Doc McStuffin's Walk n'Talk mobile.  Santa already brought the puppy, so thank goodness for Grandma's to supply the rest!  When Maisy got here yesterday and things had calmed down a bit, I said "Lucy, isn't it cool that Santa came?!"  And the first thing she said was "Where's my Doc Walk n' Talk?"  Haha! That girl doesn't ever forget!  If Mary wasn't buying her the Walk n' Talk I'd be worried.  She asks for it EVERY day!  Now that her Puppy wish was fulfilled, she wants the next thing on her list! :)

She might have been nervous, but she was brave enough to give Santa a High-Five! :)

She was able to wear the Santa Dress this year :)
The Fire Chief bought both the girls a piece of candy. Sometimes, living in a Small Town isn't all that bad :)
Next up: Piper turns 2!
