A New Year!

January's flying! I know it's only the 8th but it's already going by so fast! Tomorrow I start a new "job".  I'm going to be watching my friend's 3 year old daughter and 3 month old daughter Mon-Fri.  Yep.  I'm going to have 4 kids 4 and under at home, and sometimes a 5 year old too! It's gonna be insane so I better blog now because...yikes!

New Year's Eve in my household is pretty standard: sparkling cider for the kiddos, confetti blasters, and fake countdown around 7pm, fancy clothes (well, I don't always dress fancy but Lucy requested it this year) and some party food.  The kids like it, even though they don't understand what a New Year really is yet, haha.  But Sullivan HATED the confetti shooters.  They scared him!  Even the tiny little bottle poppers made him cry!  Oops....  Shawn and I always watch the Ball drop together, make resolutions together, and kiss at midnight. I SO love that man.
The girls' and Shawn attended a cousins wedding in Eureka Springs, Arkansas over Christmas break.  Sullivan and I were home because Sully was under the weather with all his asthma issues.  So they went for a night and saw their Louisiana family and had some fun with their cousins and Gilley grandparents.
A week later we all went to Dallas, TX for a couple nights and spent our Christmas money!  Thank you everyone who gave us money and gift cards! It was fun to go to all the big stores we don't have here and not have to go broke :)  We all picked out treats at IKEA (Shawn HATES IKEA but tagged along anyway) and we took Lucy to American Girl.  She was in HEAVEN.  We didn't tell her we were going there until we got there.  She saw the logo of the store and screamed!  Haha, it was nuts inside of the place. Whoa.  And we didn't buy anything but it was enough fun for her to feel as though her little girl dreams were coming true.  She wants "Camille" SO badly for her birthday; she said she's even willing to save up for her to see if she can get her before her birthday.  It was a good idea to take her to show her what she's going to be working hard for!
They had swans in our hotel! The kids LOVED that!
And lastly- this is funny.  Jenks had a SNOW DAY!  Friday we woke up to....drumroll please.... a WHOLE INCH OF SNOW! Hahaha!  They cancelled all the schools in all of Tulsa.  I was dying.  My phone rang at 6:15 AM with an automated message saying school was cancelled.  It woke me up and I hadn't looked outside yet.  When I heard the message I fully expected to look outside and see a foot of snow.  But literally, it was a dusting.  I laughed so hard.  I sent a picture to Shawn (who was out of town) and he got a good chuckle too.  But the kids were excited to play in it.  And Lucy exclaimed "Mommy, I wished for snow and God listened! He listened to me, Mama!"  I melted....
Anyway, Sully liked it once he found out he could eat it.  He's such a cutie! It was too powdery to make a snow man (and really, there wasn't enough!) but it was fun for them to get some play time.  We were definitely the only people in our neighborhood who were outside.  It was a ghost-town out there.  Southerners don't know how to handle Winter so they avoid it!  It was pretty funny.  And it meant a 3 day weekend for Lucy!  She had only gone back to school for 1 day after Christmas break and then she got another break :)
Anyway, that brings me up to speed! Hope everyone had a fun Holiday Season!
