Thursday was our city’s “Lights On” event (where all the Christmas lights in the city turn on) and Piper’s dance class was invited to perform at it.👯♀️ It was COLD: rain, sleet and wind so gusty that it blew our umbrella inside out (also the hot chocolate they gave everyone was lukewarm at best- it couldn’t stay hot!) We had such warm weather all week until that very day when a cold front blew in🌬- it’s ok though; it honestly just made it feel more Christmassy! 💚❤️We got to be there for the big countdown and watch all the lights go on (we were even on the news!), then we watched some cute dancers and THEN took a horse-drawn carriage ride. It was the perfect way to kick-off the Holiday Season!🎄 I'm thankful to live in a place that still makes the Holiday Season feel cozy and festive!
Piper is on the right of the girl in the pink coat. She braved the weather and took her coat and gloves off to dance and I was so proud of her!
As I mentioned, it was so warm all week! So, once a week I go volunteer at the girls' school and on Tuesday I had the MOST fun at school!🏫 Thanks to the gorgeous weather, the 1st graders got to do Social Studies outside and I was invited to join them🤗 I love my Tuesday’s at CE!
Shawn put ALL the lights up when we had an 80 degree day and now that Light's On is over with we can turn them on at night :) I love it!
Speaking of Shawn, he got a Truck! FINALLY! He has been so patient and waited years for one. We have needed one a ZILLION times over the last 9 years! We could never afford one the first few years of our marriage and then the last 5 years he had a job that required miles and hours on the road so it didn't make sense for him to have a truck; he needed a small car that got good gas mileage. Well, now that he only travels 50% of the time now (instead of 100%) and almost all of his trips require flying (not driving) it was time. He got a great deal on it and he's so happy. He deserves it! Life is gonna be so much easier with a truck!
Another Shawn update: He is having a GREAT football season. Haha, well LSU is and he takes their wins (and losses) VERY personally. We beat 'Bama (their BIGGEST rivalry ever!) for the first time in 8 years and we might just make it to the National Championship!
My Annual LSU Jello that I make when we play Alabama. The kids love it! |
We cut almost 6 inches of hair off this girl last night and now it has the cutest natural wave to it. I have no clue where her hair came from, but I love it! |
Morning conversations🧏🏻♀️
Lucy: isn’t it weird how God knows every single strip of hair you have on your head? Piper: He does? How many strips do I have? Me: I have no idea. Piper: does He know about the ones that come out when I brush my hair?😄😆😁 |
AND WE FINALLY got School Pictures back!

Speaking of school pictures.....the ones of Sully that I didn't order are SOOOO cute. It was such a tough decision to make. Here they are, even though they have the photographers' watermark across the front. But you get the idea....
Ugh. He is such a handsome boy. I love him SO incredibly much! I am so thankful for him! This morning he laid in bed and cuddled with me for so long because he has a cold and ONLY cuddles when he is sick. It was such a special morning.
Last but not least, I'll leave you with a few more of my kids cause apparently I can't get enough of them! :)
And here's to a HEALTHY Thanksgiving ahead! Within the last 3 weeks we've been hit with it all! I had a sinus infection and a bladder infection, Shawn got Bronchitis, Sully had an ear infection and all of us battled nasty colds. We've gone through numerous boxes of tissues, finished whole boxes of NyQuil and DayQuil, cleaned out bottles of cough syrup, drank tons of Theraflu, had oil misters and humidifiers going non stop, etc. It's been a rough few weeks but it seems we are all on the mend!
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!
