In the midst of all the sadness, panicking, and tears, we have a bright light that is Easter. The reminder that Jesus Christ died on the cross FOR US and was resurrected FOR US. Churches around the world might be closed down, but thanks to modern technology, most can choose to worship by logging in online and streaming a live viewing of song and worship no matter what religion they are a part of. Christ died for us, but He lives in us. And that is something for everyone to hold onto during this time of trouble. I pray Easter is a reprieve for all from all the daily worry. I hope prayers are being lifted up all over the globe because God hears us. I am thankful we can all focus on the reason for this Holiday no matter how bad our hearts are aching. We can all kneel to worship God the Father and His son Jesus Christ no matter where we are on Easter Sunday. And that is a beautiful thing.
Even though we are practicing Social Distancing, I took my kids outside to snap some Easter pictures like we do every year. That way, even though there will be no church outfits worn on Easter around the world, we can still retain some amount of normalcy by taking our annual Easter photos. There were a few people on the trail that we went to but no one was close to each other; we were careful. The kids weren't very happy about this year's photos. They just "got through it." Last year I remember they were SO GOOD. This year we just managed...barely, haha! I think I still got some darling photos though, and that's all I can ask for!
Sully slept up in the girls room again for Easter, just like he did on Christmas Eve. Now that they're all a little older, this will become tradition! They LOVE it! And they woke us up at 8:00 on the dot! Sully was SO excited! Watching him go through his basket was hilarious! He had an over-the-top comment about every single item! It was the best thing ever! :)
Their Easter baskets had WAY less candy in them this year, but it was still enough for the kids to go absolutely crazy when the sugar hit. Piper and Sullivan were out. of. control! This is the way every single holiday is. Shawn and I brace ourselves each time but it's always worse than we seem to remember, hahaha! However, once again, we got through it!
We had 4 Easter Egg hunts because there was nothing else to do... 2 inside and 3 outside and I didn't take a single picture.
We used some foam to dye our eggs this year. I always try to buy a "new" kind of kit each year and this year's was actually cool! White eggs were found at Costco for us, THANKFULLY. There is an egg shortage so I worried dyeing eggs wouldn't happen this year, but we got lucky!
We talked about Palm Sunday and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We prayed for hope and healing. We prayed that we'd stay healthy. We prayed for everyone. And we will continue to pray because God is listening. He has a plan, even if we don't understand it. And we will get through this. We are living through a chapter in our future history books and we WILL get through this, no matter how hard it is.
Even though we have heavy hearts, we remember the ultimate love and sacrifice made for us on this day by a Father and His Son. God's grace is ours. Happy Easter everyone.
