Thanksgiving this year was super low-key and perfect! We stayed home which was great because it's been a few years since we stayed home for the long break and it was so relaxing! We woke up late on Thursday and watched the Macy's Day Parade while Shawn started on the Turkey (he smoked it again this year) and we stayed in PJ's almost ALL day. We didn't have to go anywhere, it was cold and drizzly outside and we didn't have anyone coming over so it turned into a lazy, lounging day. I made homemade bread which I've only done twice in my life (it's too much of a commitment to make it more than once a year, haha!) and all the regular Thanksgiving food. We sat around the table and listed things we are all thankful for and the kids came up with some pretty cute things; I wrote them down so that I wouldn't forget :) Sullivan said he was thankful for Jesus, his toys and Sprite (so cute!). Lucy said she was thankful for her iPad (insert eye-roll here), Christmas, friends and family, that she wasn't born on a Leap Year AND that we live in a wonderful place and not in New Hampshire anymore, haha! Piper's was pretty generic (family, food, friends and her birthday) but it still was sweet to hear them list some of the things that make them happy.
Later that night we played Uno and Jenga and then called it a night!
My favorite turkey. Shhhh. Don’t tell his sisters 🤫😜 |
My Christmas Decorations! I get so excited to get these out of the attic each year! |
We decorated the house and the tree over the break, we started our Christmas Calendar, we did a little Black Friday shopping in the middle of the day (and online!), slept in, AND I took the girls to see Frozen 2. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty fantastic break! No homework, no drama, no stressful situations, no traveling, and lots of relaxation! :)
Oh yeah! And I gifted the family our matching PJs! The kids had a scavenger hunt around the house to find them. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!❤️🎄💚 ( P.S. Shawn usually has no problem matching us... but he said “I draw the line at fleece onesies...”😒🙄*cough*scrooge*cough)
Ok, can we just take a minute to look at all the faces Sully made during this photo shoot?? Hahahaha, Shawn just kept taking the pics at lightening speed and I don't think he has the same expression in even ONE of them. That kid cracks me up! (I'm about to post a bunch of the same picture, but just watch Sully's face throughout.)
See what I mean? His face changed with every new shutter, hahahaha! This was the one I settled on;-) But man, it was a tough choice. He's such a goof ball! |
And even though he didn't want a fleece Onesie, Shawn was more than happy to match us with Santa slippers :) |
And finally, I couldn't end the post without a little snippet of our Frozen date! You know how the age between a toddler and kid might only be a few years, but the difference in their lives is HUGE?!? Thinking back on my girls when they were 2 and 3 feels like an entire lifetime ago! So even though Frozen 1 made it's debut in 2013, it feels like eons ago and I'm far enough removed from it to feel really nostalgic over those years! I’m sure many of you other Moms my age can relate to this- Frozen was their whole entire world 6 years ago- they lived it, loved it, breathed it for almost 3 years! So even though I was beyond tired of it back then, I was so nostalgic over it watching the new one! Funny how that works.... Anyway, the new one is even better than the first one and the Frozen Frenzy in our house has begun {again!}❄️❄️❄️ P.S. Heated seats during a movie as cold as Frozen was a dream come true for them! I get cold just watching Elsa!
NOW! We are 16 days away from Piper's SEVENTH birthday and 23 days until Christmas! I CAN'T WAIT!
